State & Fed Rates

The state government rate in Montana is tied to the federal room rate year around. The federal and state rate for the majority of Montana from October 1, 2010 - September 30, 2011 is $77 with higher or seasonal rates in Big Sky, West Yellowstone, Butte, Helena, Missoula, Polson and Kalispell. Since the state room rates are tied to the federal they are the same as those listed in the “Federal Room Rates” section.

Members or state employees with questions about state rates should contact the Montana Department of Administration's informative website at DOA State Travel Policy. The Department may be contacted by phone at 406-444-3092.

To accurately view rates and a map on the federal website you must enter “2011 (Current Year)” above the map of the United States before clicking on Montana.  The first screen will connect you to the page with the map. It may take a moment to load.

Rates for FY 2012 (October 1, 2011 - September 30, 2012) are now available. Click the link above to the map and enter 2012 in the drop down.
